  • In isolation with Jonas Mekas - Believe the invisible Day #25 (picdove.com)
Our systems of belief are focused on the invisible. Bloody stigmas, flying metal, humans. We gravitate towards the shadows of things. The unknown and all the projections it absorbs. With fear and love, we are guided to live a nonsensical life. Our motives are scarcely benign. When we believe we belong and that makes us feel powerful. It even makes some people powerful. He who controls belief, he shall inherit the earth. Belief lead us to some of the most amazing fiction. Our eyes aren't capable of such glory. And yet, we cannot imagine something that we haven't experienced. That is the great depression of the human mind. We are emprisoned by combinations, endless, but never brand new. All ideas come from the past and all that belief is, is an idea.

  • In isolation with Jonas Mekas - Guns from leaves Day #19 (picdove.com)
Futurity is endless, unpredictable and fluctuant. Until we are three-years-old we do not understand what is tomorrow. For the rest of our lives, tomorrow will be the caliber of our lives. We hold its hand and hope it will fall in love with us. And we rest assured it will be the same warm feeling of boredom that it will bring. But changes are there, like a small hole on a jumper that it will take months to notice. Tomorrow sneaks up on us a little every day. We chose not to pay attention to. Tomorrow is neither evil or divine. Tomorrow it's a humbling equalizer for us. Some have it, some not. Call it luck but it has absolutely nothing to do with humanity. Trees may understand it better.

We are never truly alone. We have our memories that create our desires. Desiring means companion. Always needing something, always having a dialogue with a voice. Usually, it's something you miss or can't have. We say we miss the interaction with people, being able to hug and kiss and feel again. Like babies need to be touched to realize their own bodies. We are afraid that we will forget our own drawing lines that separate us from the people around us. Only blueprints of houses define our boundaries now. Square and defined. No agility, no ability to bruise, no forgetting curves. We are afraid that we will become squares from these concrete boundaries. They protect and enslave. But we forget. How we used to miss this protection. How cruel the outer world used to be. We stay at home. Alone. But we are never truly alone.   Stretch Marks (Short Version) D.D.Teoli Jr. by D.D. • PRIMER FOR A PANDEMIC (picdove.com)
The view from my window is obscured by mountains of books; many covered with the dust of neglect. The frantic self absorption of my daily life has long silenced their urgent messages. Now the weight of this reading list is crushing. The many volumes that remain unread could not be sounding a louder alarm yet I fear I have answered the call too late. I have nothing but time now. I pour over the pages to find the common thread that led us to this place and seek a way forward.

During the self-isolation everyone has an imaginary attempt to play or simulate movement of your personality in different locations. In case of producing basic instinct at the same time you are on the bed and immediately transported to the shore of the bay and back. And this is how our memory with simple wishes plays in reverse direction.

  • LICHTENBERG LAUNDERETTE (picdove.com)
India Roper-Evans’ project ‘Lichtenberg Launderette’ was filmed at the Lemke Haus in Lichtenberg, designed by Mies van der Rohe, director of the Bauhaus between 1931-33. He built the house for Martha and Karl Lemke in 1932, the couple lived there until 1945 when the Red Army requisitioned the building and used it as a garage. From the 1960s until the fall of the Berlin Wall, the State Security (STASI) of the GDR used the house as a laundry depot. This prompted the idea of making a short black and white film with a soundtrack about them, using this modernist house as a launderette. The history of East Berlin is full of horror stories during their regime, I wanted to make a project about the beautiful side of Lichtenberg, showing this modern, open house on a peaceful lake; parodying the STASI for using it as a launderette. The actual house is the polar opposite of a State Security run place, with open plan spaces, large glass windows and great emphasis on light and transparency. Time to wash out the ugly past and shed light on the beauty and tranquillity that originally inspired it. • Unknown Pleasures (picdove.com)
...... an unexpected pleasure and a step into the unknown regarding video production during my isolation, the video title is taken from a Joy Division album and my current backdrop listening for its production. The video explores shape, outline, sign and form, drawn from the landscape and architecture. It considers our place within those spaces and the objects that surround us. There is no imitation or direct reference. The response is subtle, personal, intimate and ritualistic. Relevant at this moment when expressions of identity—personal, national, global are so much a part of cultural conversation - often a complex coded linguistic puzzle.
